A day in a life

Up early, hopped on my bike and cycled to the local swimming pool. Still very hot and getting hotter in the next couple of days.
Wasn't hard to get in to the water. A still morning with the sea quite calm. Little white fluffy clouds with the sun peeping through.
Had company of 5 other women. They assured me there were no sea lice or jellyfish to bother me this morning.
Did a few lapses of the small jetty, breast stroke and over arm. Very easy to fill in time when the weather is so nice. As I was the last to arrive I was the last to leave and it is a precious time to be in the pool on ones own, just floating around look up at the sky.

Council workers arrived to replace carpet on take off board and stairs into the pool. So tomorrow the girls will be pleased to see the improvements.

As well as floating around in the pool, I have a floatie that has appeared in my right eye. Two blurry spots that float this way and that. Never had this happen before. Did a search on Google when I arrived home to check out whether I should go to the Doctor. It seems to be quite common and comes on with age. And I have many years behind me.

It a wonderful feeling after I have showered and dress after a swim. I feel very alive.

Had breakfast then popped put to the garden and did a bit of maintenance on some plants.
Water restrictions have been lifted so could put some extra water around as I was still in the time limit.
Visited my son to check on his wellbeing as he has had a hit on the head and it has affected his neck muscles. He will survive but feels uncomfortable and needs to sit up to sleep.

The next few hours were very mundane, washing, sweeping floors etc.
Time for a lunch break and a look at the Federal Parliament Question Time.

Because of the hot weather, I feel like taking it easy so ended up watching the DVD " Changeling" with Angelina Jolie Directed by Clint Eastwood. A very well put together film and after just a short while I was totally engaged. Doesn't always happen with DVD's. Satisfying when it does .

Cooked the dinner and then I knock off for the day. I cook, he cleans up. Works well.
Good nights viewing on TV.
Time for a cuppa and a little blogging then off to bed.
This was my day.
Had better had worst.

How to survive in a heatwave

If you live by the coast, put on you togs as soon as you step out of bed and head to the water. Very invigorating and very meditative start to the day.

Take it real easy, slow right down and go with the day. Don't try to carry on as usual. Use it as a "Special Day Off'" and indulge yourself in all the things you like to do. Like sitting around reading or watching DVDs, listening to music, creating a thing of beauty from paper and glue, doing crossword puzzles. What ever makes your heart Sing. Have no guilt because you are giving a day to yourself. You have earned it. You deserve It.

Drink lots of fluids. Even reward yourself with a little tipple at the end of the day.
A long slow hot Summers day can be a gift. (If you can convince the people that you share your life with that the day is yours to do with what you want.

Tomorrow is another day.
